An 8-year career gap could not stop Poonam from becoming a rockstar developer after her motherhood!
Poonam Ghode completed her B. Com and Masters in Computer Management from Nagpur University and worked in a customer support role in a private company before she got married and decided to take a sabbatical. Soon after she got married; she had two kids and decided to focus on raising her children, as a result of which her career had to face a hiatus.
It is now 8 years later that Poonam felt the time was right for her to step back into the job market. Poonam always had a knack to become a coder or programmer and wanted to focus on a career in software development but quickly realised she lacked the relevant skills to do so.While speaking to Newton School she says, “Sometimes being married and giving birth to a child is a natural setback in a career path. This happened to me as well.
However, both my paternal and maternal families acknowledged the fact that I should resume working on my ambitions and supported my decision. I believe that the responsibilities of the household should not hold a woman back from pursuing economic independence as she desires.”Poonam decided to take her career to the next level and started searching for software development courses online. She then opted for a Full Stack Development course with Newton School and is now on her way to becoming a Rockstar Developer from being a Rockstar Mom!
We couldn’t be more excited for Poonam! Cheers!
